Have you ever wondered what it’s like to sink beers in the derelict remains of a 1920s warehouse? Well, wonder no more, because now you can.
The Third Day is North Melbourne’s hidden gem located on 290 Macaulay Road. Where some once saw nothing but a burnt out factory warehouse, we saw kegs of potential.
What you should look for when hiring a corporate event planner?
Melbourne is perfect for any event, but it can be a virtual minefield when sorting through the various venues that populate the city. Only with a suitably qualified corporate event planner will you be successful in your desire to host a perfect function that will have your guests racing about!
Obviously you don’t want any event planner for your corporate event, you need a professional! Someone dedicated to event planning that has all the local knowledge, they need to understand what you need and have the project management skills to wrangle all your guests into one place.
Here are our top four tips for finding that perfect person or company:
Start with a recommendation
Check with some of your own clients and see who they have had organised a function. Or if that is not possible, ask staff what recent functions they attended and make a few phone calls to see what person or company put it all together.
Many venues may have corporate function planners details. If you find a venue you are considering holding your event, they may have a list of recommended planners, people they have worked with in the past and are well known for providing a quality service.
Ask to see their portfolio
Any corporate event planner worth their salt will have a portfolio of work for you to peruse. The quality of the portfolio is usually a good indication of how experienced the person or business is at the low end expect not much more than a Facebook page, at the high end expect to see a professionally produced catalog of their body of work.
The size of the portfolio can indicate how many years they have been in operation. However, that does not mean that a person with only a few events should be discounted. Often they are willing to work harder to prove what the are able to achieve, and charge less! Careful examination of the portfolio can be very telling. If it looks too slick, try image searching some of the photos.
Check out some reviews
After browsing the portfolio and determining if the contents are real, you should contact some of their previous clients and see what they will say in person that they may not be willing to put into writing.
Tone is an excellent tell for when people are happy about a service that has been provided; not everyone is a wordsmith when it comes to writing reviews online. Good or bad, a company will have no issue in informing you of their experience.
Have a casual meet & greet
Meeting in person (or online) is perfect for seeing someone’s true ability. It gives you the chance to see if they are going to be a good working fit for your business. Try to meet with at least three potential corporate planners. This will give you a good idea if there vision and tastes matches with your own.
